Due to a rapid uptake in our services, Coravets is recruiting for locum and ad-hoc veterinary nurses to complement and enhance our team.

As a Veterinary Nurse, you will uphold the highest standards of animal care in line with the values of CoraVets and the Veterinary Council of Ireland.

CoraVets has aimed from the outset to develop a role-based structure in a specialist environment, with establishment of clinical nurse manager roles (CNM1, CNM2), as well as RVN (“staff nurse”) positions, offering career development opportunities, and pathways to progression for interested candidates. To support our existing staff, maintain our clinical standards, and ensure the best of patient care, we are seeking experienced veterinary nurses to add to our locum bank, for occasional shifts covering illness, annual leave, or ad-hoc shifts as needed. Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinary specialist team in procedures, including anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, surgery.
  • Administer treatments as scheduled in collaboration with Veterinary team.
  • Nurse and care for patients to the standard upheld by CoraVets
  • Ensure medications prescribed are correctly administered to patients, oversee the safe handling of drugs and maintain up to date and accurate clinical and administrative records.
  • Carry out any ad hoc Veterinary or administrative duties that may arise through the normal course of the day within the clinic or as advised by head nurse (CNM1)/Hospital director.
  • Complete all tasks, duties and procedures efficiently and accurately.

What do you need:

Professional/Technical Qualification

  • Current registration with VCI.

Experience & Job Knowledge

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience working as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a small animal clini.c
  • Interest in working in a progressive practice as part of a team.
  • Experience in a referral clinic setting is a distinct advantage.

Who will this suit?

  • RVN with an interest in occasional shifts in a referral clinic, who doesn’t want to commit to formal shift patterns, but may be available for occasional cover.
