Locum Veterinary Nurse (GP or ECC) - (24 hour Hospital), Village Vets Dundrum, South Dublin

Location: Village Vets, Dundrum (24 hour Hospital)
Reports to: Head Nurse

Salary €25 - €38 per hour depending on shift type e.g. weekday/weekend/night/ECC shifts

Our modern 24-hour hospital offers a varied caseload across GP and Emergency & Critical Care. and we are expanding our locum RVN nurse panel.

We're open to any level of availability. Whether you're looking for the occasional shift, regular weekly work, or short-term cover, we're happy to work around your availability.

About the Role

• Provide continuous, attentive nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, monitoring vital signs and assessing pain levels

• Support veterinarians during emergency procedures, including triage, resuscitation, wound management, and surgery

• Carry out essential medical procedures such as placing IV catheters, administering medications and fluids, and performing diagnostic tests

• Assist with anaesthesia induction, monitoring, and post‑operative recovery for critical patients

• Maintain strict infection control standards and ensure a clean, sterile environment

• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners, providing updates and guidance on treatment and aftercare

• Keep detailed, accurate medical records and provide thorough handovers between shifts

About You

• Qualified and VCI registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

• Ideally 5+ years’ experience in small animal practice

• This role demands strong clinical skills, resilience, and compassion to deliver high-quality care to patients in urgent need

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Passionate about delivering gold-standard patient and client care
