GDPR and your VetJobs.ie account

We have made some changes to our site to help you better understand how we collect and manage your data. Our Privacy Policy has been updated to address the requirements introduced under the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).


Who is responsible for processing your data?

TrustVet Limited t/a Vetjobs.ie is the data controller for all your personal data on the website.


What personal data do we process?

JOB SEEKERS

When you create an account (and profile) we collect the following information:

  • Email Address
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Password
  • IP Address - used for security purposes

You can then optionally provide the following information:

  • Phone Number
  • Photo
  • Location (City/State) - we geocode this location to a Longitude/Latitude in order to facilitate distance based search on the Profile Database search
  • Longitude/Latitude - geocoded from Location value
  • CV (PDF/Word/Text)
  • Social Media Links (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Employment history
  • Educational history
  • Certifications or Professional Licenses
  • Skills
  • Phone number

If you have chosen to apply to Job Ads by an “Apply via Email” button, without first having created an account on the website (i.e. where VetJobs.ie essentially just hosts the Job Application form), the following information is collected:

  • Email Address
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • CV
  • Cover Letter
  • Source - if we are able to identify where you came from
  • Phone number

Information about the job seeker’s email address, first name, last name, resume/CV, cover letter and custom fields, will be shared with the Employer who posted the Job Ad.

In the case where the Job Ad is set up as an “Apply via URL” (i.e., where you are taken to an external website to complete the application), the following information is collected when you click on the “Apply to this Job” button:

  • IP Address - we use the IP Address to geocode the location for reporting purposes and then store an anonymized version of the IP address (i.e. 127.123.123.000)
  • Town, County, EirCode - based on IP address geocoding
  • Longitude, Latitude - based on IP address geocoding
  • User Agent- device and browser i.e. iPhone, Windows, Firefox
  • Referring Website or Search Engine (if this information is available to us) - where the visitor came from i.e. Google Search
  • Source - if we are able to identify where you came from


JOB ALERT SUBSCRIBERS

When you sign up for job alert emails, we collect the following information:

  • Email address
  • Search preferences/search query - i.e. “vet jobs” in "Newbridge, Co. Kildare"

EMPLOYERS

When you register as an employer on VetJobs.ie we collect the following information:

  • Email Address
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Password
  • IP Address - used for security purposes

Your can then optionally provide the following information:

  • Phone Number
  • Company Name
  • Company Description
  • Logo
  • Additional Media (Image, Videos)
  • Company Location (Street Address/City/State) - we then geocode this location to a Longitude/Latitude in order to facilitate distance based search on the Profile Database search
  • Longitude/Latitude - geocoded from Location value
  • Phone number
  • Your business (vet in practice, vet in industry or employment agency)

For what purpose do we process your personal data?

We use your personal data to facilitate your job application and to aid in your job search.


Who is the recipient of your data?

Job Applications

When you apply for a job through VetJobs.ie, a copy of your application is stored in the relevant employer’s account on our website and is also sent to the employer’s email address. Data pertaining to a specific job application will never be shared with any other employer. Your application or CV will be stored in our system for 18 months after the date of your application. After that period of time, we will automatically delete your application from the employer’s account on our website.

We have not currently enabled the Profile Database feature on the website and employers cannot currently view your data through the Profit Database. Should we enable this functionality, an employer with appropriate permissions may view your profile data (excluding email address and IP address). Note that applications are separate from profiles and unless you have explicitly opted to make your profile searchable by employers, no employers will be able to view your data.

Job Alerts

If you create a job alert on VetJobs.ie we will email you jobs that match your search criteria, to assist with your job search. VetJobs.ie does not share your Job Alert data with any third parties.

You can edit your job search criteria, or stop receiving job alerts, by either:

  • clicking on the link at the bottom of any job alert email
  • logging into your account on VetJobs.ie and selecting “Job Alerts” from the main menu

Updates and Offers Email List

If you have given your consent to receive our “Updates and Offers” emails, we may email you details of similar services, offers and news that will help you in your job search. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time either by using the unsubscribe link on the email. We will never pass your email address to a third party.


Your legal rights under GDPR

You own your data so if you would like to view your data or remove it and bring it with you then we will work with you to make that happen.

Under GDPR you can;

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction of the personal data we hold about you
  • Request the erasure of your personal data (known as Right To Be Forgotten)
  • Object to a processing of your personal data
  • Request restriction of processing your personal data
  • Request the transfer of your personal data
  • Withdraw consent

If you want to delete your account, then you can do that straightaway in your jobseeker account. Just log in and under settings you will find the delete button at the bottom of your profile page.

If you would like to retrieve your data from our system, just log into your jobseeker account and under settings you will find the export button at the bottom of your profile page.

If you want to go one step further and use your Right To Be Forgotten which will permanently remove any trace of you and your data from our systems, then you will need to log a request with our customer service team. Just email [email protected].

Please note, it can take up to 30 days for us to process a Right to be Forgotten request.
