Experienced Veterinary Surgeon - Saturdays Only, Village Vets Ashbourne

Location:  Village Vets
Reports to:  Partner and Hospital Manager

Schedule: Saturdays - Flexible Weekly or Biweekly. Shift Times Flexible
Salary: €50 hourly

About the Role

Join our Saturday daytime team in a well-established 24-hour hospital, working alongside experienced vets, skilled nurses, and dedicated support staff. Enjoy access to excellent facilities and modern equipment while managing an interesting caseload. As a 24-hour hospital, all patients remain on site, so there's no need to transfer cases at the end of your shift.

• Diagnose, treat, and care for patients to the high standards upheld by Village Vets.
• Investigate and manage cases thoroughly within the practice.
• Take full responsibility for patient care, including effective case handover
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records.
• Prescribe and dispense medications safely and correctly, supporting stock management as needed.
• Communicate clearly with clients, providing estimates and treatment options to support informed decision‑making.
• Deliver an outstanding client experience across all communication channels.
• Promote Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance to support optimal patient care.
• Work collaboratively with the day and night teams to ensure compassionate, high‑quality care.
• Provide veterinary training and guidance to support best practice across the team.
• Support the daily running and presentation of the clinic to Village Vets’ standards.
• Ensure all billing is accurate and correctly processed.

About You

• Have 3+ years’ experience in small animal practice

• VCI Registration

• Be confident in consultations, routine surgery, and case management

• Demonstrate strong clinical skills with a proactive and motivated approach

• Thrive in a team-focused environment and enjoy contributing to shared learning

• Be committed to delivering exceptional patient care and client service
