Experienced Veterinary Surgeon (with an Interest in Medicine), Full Time, Meath
Location: Village Vets Ashbourne
Reports to: Lead Vet
Salary: €55,000 - €65,000
Schedule: 5 day week, 1:4 Saturdays, 1:12 Sundays
About the Role
We’re delighted to share that our Meath team is growing at Village Vets! As part of our continued commitment to delivering excellent patient care and supporting team development, we are currently seeking an experienced GP Vet with a special interest in internal medicine or ophthalmology.
Our hospital features:
- 2 fully equipped surgical suites
- Dedicated orthopaedic surgery suite
- CT machine on site
- Diagnostic ultrasound and advanced imaging capabilities
- Expertise in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and advanced diagnostics
- Multiple Certificate holders within the clinic providing excellent clinical support
As part of a 24/7 hospital , clinic cases are not transferred, allowing for excellent case continuity and the opportunity to fully work up cases from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. You’ll be supported by:
- A very strong Front of House team
- Highly experienced nursing and animal care assistant team
- Experienced Vets with Certificates
- Dedicated separate night team, ensuring excellent patient care.
- Monthly team meetings to encourage collaboration, communication, and clinical discussion
- Quarterly Social Outings
About the role
- Diagnose, treat, and care for patients to the high standards upheld by Village Vets.
- Investigate and manage cases thoroughly within the practice before referral, based on patient needs.
- Take full responsibility for patient care, including effective case handover and appropriate after‑hours or referral care.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records.
- Prescribe and dispense medications safely and correctly, supporting stock management as needed.
- Communicate clearly with clients, providing estimates and treatment options to support informed decision‑making.
- Deliver an outstanding client experience across all communication channels.
- Promote Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance to support optimal patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the clinic team to ensure compassionate, high‑quality care.
- Provide veterinary training and guidance to support best practice across the team.
- Support the daily running and presentation of the clinic to Village Vets’ standards.
- Ensure all billing is accurate and correctly processed.
About You
- Have 3+ years’ experience in small animal practice
- VCI Registration
- Be confident in consultations, routine surgery, and case management
- Demonstrate strong clinical skills with a proactive and motivated approach
- Thrive in a team-focused environment and enjoy contributing to shared learning
- Be committed to delivering exceptional patient care and client service
- Have a genuine interest in continuous professional development
