Experienced Exotics Veterinary Nurse, Bray
Location: Village Vets Bray
Reports to: Head Nurse
Schedule: Full time, 40 hours - 5 day week, 1 in 4 Saturday and 1 in 12 Sundays in Dundrum
Salary: 31k-38k Depending on experience
Want to learn more about all different creatures without losing your cat and dog skills? Village Vets is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (1+ years’ clinical experience) to join our skilled, and collaborative community in our Village Vets Bray clinic.
You will work closely with our highly experienced exotic nursing team. Several team members are certificate holders, and many bring up to 16 years’ experience in exotic animal care. You will gain exposure to a wide variety of species, including rabbits, guinea pigs, birds of all sizes (budgies, parrots, and birds of prey), reptiles, chelonians, wildlife and more.
Our inpatients receive dedicated nurse rounds three times daily. This ensures there is plenty of time for thorough training and hands-on experience with the successful candidate.
Our exotic team is highly skilled in exotic anaesthesia, inpatient care, handling, diagnostic imaging, nurse consultations, and laboratory work. They are fully committed to training and supporting a new nurses joining.
You’ll have the opportunity to work within modern, well-resourced clinics, dental x-ray, spacious surgical theatres, in-house laboratories, and many with separate dog and cat wards- and contribute to a calm, welcoming atmosphere for both clients and their pets.
About the Role
- Provide continuous, attentive nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, monitoring vital signs and assessing pain levels
- Support veterinarians during emergency procedures, including triage, resuscitation, wound management, and surgery
- Carry out essential medical procedures such as placing IV catheters, administering medications and fluids, and performing diagnostic tests
- Assist with anaesthesia induction, monitoring, and post‑operative recovery for critical patients
- Maintain strict infection control standards and ensure a clean, sterile environment
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners, providing updates and guidance on treatment and aftercare
- Work closely with vets, nurses, and support staff to deliver cohesive, high‑quality emergency care

- Keep detailed, accurate medical records and provide thorough handovers between shifts
About You
- Qualified and VCI registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- 2+ years’ experience as a qualified RVN in small animal practice
- This role demands strong clinical skills, resilience, and compassion to deliver high-quality care to patients in urgent need
- Highly motivated, hard-working, and a team player
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Passionate about delivering gold-standard patient and client care
