Mixed Veterinary Surgeon (Large Animal Bias) – Independent Practice
Independent practice. Great rota. Support When You Need It.
Our team would like to welcome an additional mixed practice vet with a large animal bias to our practice in Millstreet, Co. Cork.
We pride ourselves on being an independent, forward-thinking practice, with a collaborative approach to cases encouraged.
Our practice is a place where every team member is respected, supported and celebrated as an individual – you are not just another number on the staff list.
We have strong gender balance in our senior leadership team, and we will always offer equal opportunities and pay.
About Us
Our main hospital is based in Millstreet, with our branch clinic in nearby Newmarket.
Our practice is:
- 50% small animal and 50% large animal
- Predominantly dairy-based on the large animal side
- No equine work
We benefit from years of experience within our friendly 11-vet team, from recent graduates to experienced vets, in addition to certificate holders in both small and large animal disciplines.
Every member of our team is happy to offer mentorship, advice and support, and we place great importance on ensuring that help and back-up are always available when needed.
Our caseload is varied and interesting, offering an enjoyable mix of routine and more complex work. On the large animal side, there is a strong emphasis on proactive herd health and building long-term relationships with our farming clients, alongside the day-to-day variety that mixed practice provides.
We welcome new ideas and want every team member to be fully invested in the quality of service we provide. It is important to us that every member of the team feels valued and respected.
Our vets work alongside our team of 4 experienced and proactive Registered Veterinary Nurses, who ensure that patient care and safety is always prioritised.
Work-Life Balance
We recognise that enjoying your work is only part of the picture. Having time to switch off, pursue your interests and spend time with family and friends is equally important.
We have a well-organised rota (approximately 1 in 6) that allows you to plan your downtime well in advance.
A designated senior back up vet is always available out of hours to provide support and assistance when needed during the busy Spring period. For the rest of the year, support is always available when needed.
In our Springtime rota, our vets receive a day off following a night on call, helping to ensure that busy periods remain sustainable and manageable.
Flexible working patterns will also be considered for the right candidate.
Career Development
We are committed to supporting career and professional development at all stages of your veterinary career.
We have a strong track record of supporting and funding certificates or further study for committed individuals and are proud to have certificate holders in both small and large animal disciplines within our team.
Whether you are looking to develop a particular clinical interest, undertake a certificate, or broaden your skills and experience, we will work with you to support your professional goals.
