We are looking for a veterinary surgeon with a real interest in surgery to join our team in Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital.

This role would suit a vet who already holds a surgical certificate or someone who is keen to work towards one. We have a strong surgical caseload including routine procedures and more advanced soft tissue work such as BOAS surgery, perineal hernia repair, thyroidectomy, anal sacculectomy, complex mass removals and extracapsular cruciate repair, with plenty of opportunity to further develop surgical services within the practice.

We are a busy independent small animal hospital in Dublin with 7 vets (5 FTE) and an experienced team of nurses and support staff. The practice has been established for 18 years and has a loyal client base and varied caseload.

We also see a large number of exotic patients, with three vets in the team who have a particular interest in exotics. This occasionally leads to some very interesting surgical cases, although involvement with exotics is completely optional.

One of the nicest things about working here is the team environment. There are always colleagues around to discuss cases, share ideas or lend a hand. It can be a lively building at times, but it means there is strong communication around cases and excellent support when needed.

As an independent practice, we have the freedom to develop services and make decisions quickly. Vets in the team are encouraged to bring their ideas and interests forward, and if someone wants to grow an area of the practice — particularly surgery — we will support that.

The position is full time, although we are happy to have conversations about part-time working patterns for the right person.

Salary is €65,000–€85,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
